There is no doubt that adidas has taken the world with its use of Boost technology - particularly in the Ultra Boost and the NMD runner, which have achieved phenomenal mainstream success beyond that of just the sneaker and streetwear community. It is not hard to see why - with an ultra plush, responsive midsole and sharp, flexible primeknit uppers, they are great shoes and a force to be reckoned with. We created an entire collection for Ultra Boosts and NMDs in order to offer the best options for swapping out shoe laces for a unique look in an increasingly common footwear choice.
However Nike won't take losing its dominance without a fight, and cue the Air Max 97. On its 20th anniversary, this silhouette has made a huge comeback, starting with the coveted OG silver bullets. Inspired by the Japanese Shinkansen (bullet trains), these feature wrap-around, concentric reflective panelling interwoven with mesh, sitting on top of an almost entirely visible air bubble sole unit. Since the silver bullets, we have seen the gold bullets, the summit whites, the 'ultra' collection and now the release of collaborations such as Skepta x Nike and Undefeated x Nike.
Coming at a time when we are living our lives with increasing pace, sometimes it is nice to throwback to the nostalgia of the old Air Max and rep the glory days of the 90s for Nike. They are the new essential in the sneaker rotation. We love all our pairs of 97s and for any lace swap ideas check out our entire collection on site.
For the silver bullets, gold bullets and summit whites, we recommend our white rope laces with gold and silver aglets - or for the collabs - go some black rope laces.
