OFF-WHITE x NIKE 'THE TEN' SHOELACES - LaceSpace

GRAB OUR EXCLUSIVE OFF-WHITE "SHOELACES

LaceSpace was privileged to be part of the Nike celebrations for "Ten Ten" - ten Nike icons reconstructed by the one and only Virgil Abloh, director and head of the incredibly influential streetwear label "Off-White".

To celebrate the event, Nike teamed up with LaceSpace  and Melbourne sneaker ateliers Bespoke Ind. to run a DIY workshop creating and customising blank canvas Air Force 1s.

Guests were each given a pair of triple white Air Force 1s and a whole workshop full of leather swooshes, straps, Off-White and Nike logo stencils with paint and permanent markers. To give the true sneaker craftsman feel, leather hole punches, sewing needles and scalpels were given to those game enough to really rip into their Air Force 1s.

Tools of the trade and some LaceSpace custom engraved dubraes, special for the event

LaceSpace created some special printed laces exclusive to the event for Nike and Virgil commemorating the event, reading "SYDNEY 2017" on one side and 'NIKE X OFF-WHITE' on the other in both our white waxed laces, and our regular flat white shoe laces.

Special edition LaceSpace white flat and waxed laces limited to 50 pairs for the event guests.

Guests were also given the opportunity to use our more colourful range of flat laces. As part of our new custom engraved dubrae range, we also made exclusive dubraes for the guests, Nike and Virgil himself reading "SYDNEY" "THE TEN" in gunmetal grey.

Virgil himself received an extra pair in matte black, reading "FLAT" "WHITE" - his alias as a DJ. These were laced up with our white waxed laces in a custom pair of Air Max 1s created by Bespoke Ind.

Prior to the event beginning, Virgil was invited into the studio by none other than Sneaker Freaker head honcho Simon "Woody" Wood. Here Virgil was asked about his pathway to Off-White, his design inspiration for 'The Ten', his relationship with Nike, as well as rumours of a future collab in the next year...

During his interview, Virgil revealed that he had grown up as a self-proclaimed "skater kid", and that his love for design and creative work had originated from his studies in engineering and has a masters in architecture - fun fact! He stressed to all the guests that inspiration comes from "a single idea" - and that you just need to follow through and explore all creative facets to make that idea tangible.

Following the event, the incredibly long line of people outside the pop-up space who had waited over 5 hours to see the man and get their shoes or clothing signed were given the opportunity to get what they were finally after - with many walking away with signed pairs of "The Ten", belts, totes, shirts and even an ikea bag with Virgil laughing as he signatured "SCULPTURE" on it.

More pictures to come - but in the meantime, we are celebrating the event by coinciding it with the release of the first run our "SHOELACES" - inspired by Virgil and an homage to both Nike and Off-White. With only 50 pairs per size, make sure you grab a pair to commemorate this iconic collaboration. For each purchase, you will go into the draw to receive a pair of the collaboration laces and dubraes made specifically for the Off-White x Nike event.

We will be giving away some of these commemorative laces to lucky winners. Stay tuned for details. We will make some video available via our social channels soon!
