Dare we say it, 2020 was the year of iconic retro releases as the eventful year brought once more a fan-favorite blast from the past. Reminiscent of the Air Jordans Michael Jordan sported in his legendary “The Shot” moment back in 1989, Nike relaunches one of its renowned OG colorways - the Air Jordan 4 Fire Red 2020. Staying true to the Chicago Bulls aesthetic, the AJ4 sneakers come in a crisp white leather base with accents of vibrant red and dark black.
Despite the colorway being a mainstay in Nike’s sneaker line-ups, the Air Jordan 4 Fire Red 2020 proved to be a highly coveted grail for collectors as its limited stocks were immediately swept off the shelves upon its release. That’s why cheers to you if you have gotten your own pair.
The retroed look consisting of a white leather upper is complemented by hits of red at the eyestay, ankle collars, and the Jumpman logo at the tongue. Contrasting blacks fill beneath the rubber nets at the front and quarter panels plus the supporting wings at the sides. The rears have also switched back to the originals as the Nike Air branding returns, sitting atop the black heel tab in red. Underfoot, half red-half black layers accessorize the midsoles while the customary AIR cushioning units peek beneath the heels - giving the wearer a unique bounce and comfort in every step. Finishing off the lifestyle sneakers are multidirectional herringbone traction outsole in red and tech grey.
Retro releases of our favorite Air Jordans are really like grape wines ripening with age. Even if several years have passed, the quality and aesthetics only get better, with its value also progressively building up with the times.
