Ah, the 1990s, the iconic decade that paved the way for new technology, exciting music, blockbuster movies, booming fashion industry, and many more in the name of pop culture. But do you know what else was born in the 90s? That's right, one of the biggest and phenomenal style icons in the sneaker industry was introduced to the market and would take over shoe racks worldwide even after decades.
Tinker Hatfield has previously constructed the Air Max 1 that was regarded before as radical yet, lo and behold, Nike Air Max 90 was released three years later. Just last 2020, the design celebrated its 30th anniversary, with its timeless silhouette remaining a classic favorite by sneakerheads globally and racking up sales with new collaborations and fresh remakes of their OG designs each year.
Refurbishing the window to their revolutionary Air technology with bold, vibrant accents, the Air Max 90 Infrared (Air Max 3 Radiant Red) returned to the shelves last Nov. 2020 and retailed at $140. Going over the structure, there is the familiar light gray synthetic suede at the toe box, the white nylon upper making it comfy and breathable, a black leather accent serving as a mudguard, and the signature Swoosh in muted gray. The shoes are then nicely wrapped up with striking red pops of color at the midsole's Air Max cushioning unit, iconic infrared TPU eyelet panels, insoles, and the heel tab featuring the Nike Air branding.
Over the years, the Air Max 90 has been retroed and kept coming back strong with a remix of fresh colorways here and there. Still, you cannot go wrong donning a pair of the red Nike giants as their classic look could pair with a wide range of styles.
